Summer is fast approaching. This summer why not think about finding a balance between food and fun.!!
A few simple changes will make your daily diet healthier. Adding physical exercise to your daily routine

**Don’t sugar coat it** Choose food and beverages that do not have sugar and caloric sweeteners as one
of the first ingredients.

**Vary your veggies** Go dark green and orange with your vegetables—eat spinach, broccoli, carrots and

**Focus on fruits** Eat them at meals, and at snack time too. Choose fresh, frozen, canned or dried. Go

**Make half your grains whole** Choose whole-grain foods, such as whole-wheat bread, oatmeal, brown
rice and low fat popcorn.

**Go lean with protein** Eat lean or low fat meat, chicken, turkey and fish. Try more dried beans and peas.
**Get calcium rich foods** To build stong bones drink low fat and fat free milk or eat other milk products
several times a day.

Exercise every day!! Children need 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
**Instead of sitting in front of the TV or computer get up and move it!
**Set aside time each day to walk, jog, skate, cycle or swim.
**Participate in team sports.
**Have an activity party. Make your next birthday party centered around a physical activity like swimming
or bowling.
