EAT RIGHT. EXERCISE. HAVE FUN.

Summer is fast approaching.  This summer why not think about finding a balance between food and fun.!!
A few simple changes will make your daily diet healthier.  Adding physical exercise to your daily routine
will add tons of fun to your summer!
**Don’t sugar coat it** Choose food and beverages that do not have sugar and caloric sweeteners as one
     of the first ingredients.
**Vary your veggies**  Go dark green and orange with your vegetables—eat spinach, broccoli, carrots and
     sweet potatoes.
**Focus on fruits**  Eat them at meals, and at snack time too.  Choose fresh, frozen, canned or dried.   Go
    easy on the fruit juice.
**Make half your grains whole**   Choose whole-grain foods, such as whole-wheat bread, oatmeal, brown
     rice and low fat popcorn.
**Go lean with protein** Eat lean or low fat meat, chicken, turkey and fish.  Try more dried beans and peas.
**Get calcium rich foods**   To build stong bones drink low fat and fat free milk or eat other milk products
     several times a day.
Exercise every day!!  Children need 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
**Instead of sitting in front of the TV or computer get up and move it!
**Set aside time each day to walk, jog, skate, cycle or swim.
**Participate in team sports.
**Have an activity party.  Make your next birthday party centered around a physical activity like swimming
     or bowling.
** Make it fun.  Involve your whole family in your physical activities.
